1). 1906 Annalen der Physik, Band 19, No. 2 [two Einstein contributions] 

A New Determination of Molecular Dimensions (University of Zurich disseration) (Eine neue Bestimmung der Moleküldimensionen), pp. 289-306.

 **** first appearance in a journal of Einstein’s famous doctoral dissertation: “it has had more widespread practical applications than any other paper Einstein wrote” (Pais).

 On the Theory of Brownian Motion (Zur Theorie der Brownschen Bewegung), pp. 371-381.           

**** important sequel to Einstein’s revolutionary 1905 paper on Brownian motion; “includes the discussion of rotary Brownian motion.” (Pais).

 **** important work on the consequences of special relativity: “Discussion of center-of-gravity motion in special relativity” (Pais).

 **** first printing of one of Einstein’s most important papers: “Quantum theory of specific heats of solids. With this paper, solid state quantum theory begins… the first paper ever written on the quantum theory of the solid state.” (Pais).

****a continuation of his work on the consequences of special relativity: “Further ruminations about the rigid body- ‘If relativistic electrodynamics is correct, then we are still far from having a dynamics for the translation of rigid bodies.’… Einstein also expresses an opinion concerning the bearing of his recent light-quantum hypothesis on the validity of the free Maxwell equations. It seemed to him that these equations should be applicable as long as one deals with electromagnetic energy amounts or energy transfers which are not too small, just as—he notes—the laws of thermodynamics may be applied as long as Brownian-motion-type effects (fluctuations) are negligible.” (Pais).
